Interpersonal Skills

Assertiveness is the quality of being self-assured and confident without being aggressive.

A lack of assertive interpersonal behaviour can stem from a person's nature, culture or upbringing, where the individual sees being assertive as being rude or forward. Some people realise that they need to be more assertive and typically overstep into aggression, often because they have to put in a concerted effort to make themselves count.

The Assertive Interpersonal skills program cannot instantly change a shy or gentle person into a force to reckon with, but will help attendees realise and understand the consequences of non-assertive behaviour and give them a process that they can use to grow into a person who can "stand in their own space" with confidence.
